Seo for launching a new website
Mar 13th
Want to learn seo and trying to launch a new website here are some tips and tricks
Registering a domain name
Pick a domain name which either has keywords associated with your product/service or your brand name. It is better to go for short domain names which are easy to remember. If your target market is global, go for a .com domain. If you are targeting a particular country or language, it is better to register a domain name in TLD of that country. For example, go for a .jp or .co.jp domain, if you are targeting Japan. I recommend you to register the domain for at least 2 years; more the better to gain the trust of search engines.

Sep 29th
Microsoft AppLocale is a utility that allows Windows users to display foreign language character sets or codepages in non-Unicode legacy code-page based application program that is different from current system locale. Otherwise, the text in the program’s interface may appear garbled and unreadable. But not only the UI of the application may display garbage characters, even the setup file or installer that runs the installation process can be unreadable when the language locale setting is incompatible. When the setup requires a lot of options to be set or configured, the unreadable text can be a problem and may lead to error.

Changing User Agent for Firefox Web Browser
Sep 26th
User agent strings of Mozilla FireFox web browser allow web sites and web servers to identify which browser visitors used to browse the web page, and typically together with such as the application name, version, host operating system, and language. By changing user agent, sometimes, one can get access to restricted part of a website with extra contents that normally open only to bots, or search engine crawlers. This kind of area typical example is “Member Only” forums or sites that don’t want to lose out on search engine traffic.
Modification of user agent string also enable surfers to trick websites into believing that they are actually using a particular web browser or using specific system in order to avoid and disable advertising display or junk ads that targeted to specific segment of viewers of the websites only.
In Firefox, there are at least 2 ways to change the default user agent strings. The first way is by using User Agent Switcher add-on extension for Firefox, popularly used by MegaUpload hacker to bypass country download slot limit.
Once installed and restarted Firefox, simply go to Tools -> User Agent Switcher, and you will see a list of user agents which you can choose. By default there is only 3 user agents listed, namely Internet Explorer 6, Netscape and Opera. To add more, simply follow this steps:
- Go to Tools -> User Agent Switcher -> Options.
- Then click on User Agents and then click on Add.
- Key in the necessary information for your custom user agent. For example, for MegaUpload toolbar user agent, try the following configuration:Description: MegaUpload
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; Alexa Toolbar)If you want to simulate surfing as Google search engine spider, try to add the following instead:Description: Googlebot 2.1
User Agent: Googlebot 2.1 - Finish off by clicking on OK twice.
The second method that you can modify the user agent in Firefox is by performing the following steps, which do not require any download:
- Open up Firefox browser.
- In the adderss bar, type the following:about:config
- You will see lots of preference names and their respective value. Search for “general.useragent.extra.firefox” by scrolling alphabetically or using filter.
- Right click and select Modify or double click on it.
- In the Enter string value dialog box, type in the user agent string that you want to simulate, such as “Googlebot 2.1? to surf as Google spider bot.
- To change back to the default user agent, simply right click on the line and select Reset.

Using Character Map (charmap) to Type and Input Special Characters and Accents in Windows Vista

How do you type some special characters, signs, symbols, accented letters and other Unicode languages in Windows Vista? These characters include some regular used symbols and signs such as © (copyright), ® (registered), ± (plus-minus), ™ (trademark), ? (ohm), ? (square root), ? (infinity), ? (double exclamation mark), ? (various arrows), ¿ (inverted question mark), ° (degree), µ (micro), ? (almost equal to), ? (not equal to), ? (smilies face), ? (Euro currency), € (Euro), £ (English Pound), ¥ (Japanese Yen), ¢ (cent), ² (superscript), ½ (fraction), ?? (greater or small than or equal to), ? (care of), «» (double angle quotation mark), œ (Latin capital and small letter), ? (Greek capital and small letter), ? (Cyrillic capital and small letter), ? (Arabic letters), ? (Hebrew letters) and etc.
You won’t find these characters on your keyboard. In Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel, you can use Insert Symbol function to put these special characters into your documents or spreadsheets. However, what if you want to use and type these non-standard characters in other application such as Notepad or on your blog? If you know the ALT key numeric codes for the corresponding character (such as ALT-0128 for €), you can hold down the ALT key, and then press the numbers sequence using the numeric keypad (number keys on main characters keyboard won’t work). You possibly won’t remember so many of them though, so there are easier method to type all these special characters and accents.
